During the past five years the volunteer team at Holy Trinity Goodramgate have collected every postcard of the church known to have been published. The postcards have proved invaluable in demonstrating how the interior and exterior of the building have changed over the past century-and-a-half.

Some of the photographs are from the portfolio of Thomas Hanstock, a prolific late-19th-century York postcard photographer. Hanstock famously established the world’s first hospital radio station at the County Hospital in York.

With some remarkable revelations, such as the full complement of gas lights which once adorned the church’s interior, the postcards have formed the basis of an exhibition on the recent history of Holy Trinity Goodramgate.
